Life! It’s my birthday on March 30th

A good friend ( Jan Paul Yap) of mine did this for his birthday and I thought itwas the coolest idea. With my birthday being on March 30, and being that 32 has been a great year for me, I am also doing a Gift-A-Portrait contest. All you have to do are two things,

1. go to my facebook studio page,

and like it.

2. go to the Gift-A-Portait graphic and just leave a simple comment. Hi! happy birthday, or even just a smiley face is acceptable to qualify. On March 30, my birthday, I will take all the comments and pull out the winner from a magical hat streaming live so everyone can watch who is the lucky winner of the Gift-A-Portrait contest.

The prize includes, 1 portrait photo session, in studio or on-location, and a 16×20 print from your portrait session. you can bring extra family or friends to join in on your portrait session, but there can not be more than 4 people participating in the session.

Good luck and I can’t wait to see how many people sign up to get a chance to be photographed by me.

I usually don’t photograph birthday parties. The camera will come out every once in a while for my own family’s get togethers, but its nice to enjoy a “fiesta” with out having the pressure to be sure to cover all the aspects of things that occur. This birthday party wasn’t the case. I went in doing it as a favor, treating it as a full blown out event, I made sure to get there early, meet the family, figure out if there was an itenary and if so, marked the spots I needed to be sure to get to when certain things would happen.

Time went on and guests started arriving to celebrate a another year of their beloved, father, grandfather, great grandfather. Earlier in the year, Filiberto had suffered some heart problems, but his character remained strong and intact. Having 3 generations present for your celebration is such a blessing, I think of all the major world events that transpired through out the years of his life and how monumental it seems looking back. Pulling off to the corner of the house for a moment to think of the sacrifices that needed to have been made for his family, his life seemed complete in my eyes.

We spoke through out the night and had a great 5 minute conversation. I left with out a doubt knowing I had covered an event for an honorable man. It was a sincere pleasure and I left that night thinking to myself how fortunate I was to be invited…asked to cover what I learned yesterday was the last celebration for a great, loved man. We could all be so fortunate.
